The ASUS Eee Slider – 32GB model in Sept., 3G Model in 2012

ASUS have reported that the 16GB model of their Eee Pad Slider will be scrapped in favour of the larger 32GB version and a 3G edition in the coming year.

Just a few weeks after hearing from ASUS’ UK branch that the Slider was being delayed until autumn, their Netherlands branch have now reported that we could see the Slider in early September. Based on reports from Tablets Magazine, the 16GB model will be scrapped altogether (however, ASUS Poland interestingly claim that they will still be selling the 16GB version) in favour of the larger 32GB model, which should sell for €499 in Europe. We are also apt to see a 3G-enabled variant sometime in Q1 2012.

There is little information as to why the Slider has been delayed for this long but rumours indicate that it may be software-related. Earlier in the week, a hands-on video emerged showcasing the Slider with Android 3.1, paying particular attention to the new USB accessory support. The video can be see here.
