Microsoft Cinema: A 234-inch Touch-Screen
We know what you’re thinking – when can I have one? Unfortunately, the “Microsoft Cinema”, as it’s currently known, won’t be on sale any time soon. Or likely ever.
Introduced at CeBIT, the German technology fair, the 234-inch single-piece reflective screen is a product of Microsoft Germany and partner Stereolize. According to it’s demonstrators, it is the world’s largest touch display, and is capable of recognizing numerous input methods such as tapping, panning and flicking across the screen.
If the only life this technology sees is within trade show halls, it would be a great shame. Although it’s applications are undoubtedly limited (after all, most people can’t reach past the halfway point on the screen) it would be interesting to see what uses people could find for such a device.
See below for a video of the screen in action, and let your imagination run wild.
