Google report to be ‘winding down’ Labs to focus on bigger things

Google Labs, a thriving breeding ground for innovative experiments and ideas is to be downsized by the software giant so that they can focus on bigger ventures.

While this may not be the most heart-wrenching news of the day, it is a shame that Google have decided to sideline this experimental forum which has brought some interesting applications in the past. However, Google Labs will not be fully eradicated – experiments on properties such as Gmail, Google Calendar and any experimental Android apps will continue to take place. Perhaps focusing Google Labs to these areas may increase its commerical productivity?
