Designs for Lord Foster’s UK London transportation hub released!

Although this is strictly not gadgets, it is technology and the like, and believe it or not we are a tech blog! But this really is worth reporting about, Lord Foster, the world renowned architect behind the likes of Singapore airport, the Wembley stadium and the dome of the Reichstag, has come up with designs for a new UK transportation hub situated in the Thames estuary, crammed into small man-made island, currently home to a Gas LPG storage facility. The plans show 4 4km runways and multiple terminals, as well as a high speed rail link to Europe and London, and a new motorway, incorporating a new Thames Barrier as a bridge/ tunnel.

The plans are in response to fears denounced by predictions, which state that the UK will be over-capacity by 2030 in terms of transport. In fact that leaves us with just 18 years to build this $50billion project. This project creates an airport bigger than Gatwick and Heathrow combined, “needed for 21st Century Britain.” According to the architect, “we need to get back to our 19th Century engineering mentality” which I kind of agree with.

In fact this project would create 100s of thousands of jobs in the short term and even more in the long term, thus helping to boost our economy while creating infrastructure for our Future. Green Peace and the likes are concerned, naming it as a sanctuary for birds, and thus multiple bird strikes, which is absurd according to many sources, quoting that there are a lot less birds on the Isle of Grain than in Trafalgar Square.

The existing facilities would be replaced, the power station with the power provided from the tidal generators in the barrier, and the gas part being moved potentially to Boris’s floating island.
