Busy Week? Let Gadgetcore Help

Last week we brought you a compilation of video game deaths – this week? Something much more… soothing. Courtesy of Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo comes a commercial for their latest Touchwood SH-08C phone by Sharp. The phone, with a 3.4-inch (854×480 resolution) screen and 5MP camera, is being offered in a limited run – to the tune of just 15,000 handsets. Why so limited? The back of the phone is crafted from locally-sourced cypress timber, giving each phone a unique pattern and colour. While the phone itself is quite beautiful (see after the break for a manufacturer shot), the advert designed to sell it is perhaps even more so. We could describe to you the complexities of constructing an all-wood xylophone in Japan’s dense Kyushu woodlands, or the effort it required to tune the xylophone to make Bach’s Cantata 147 “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” sound accurate on the wooden keys, but instead we’ll just let you watch the video and enjoy it’s soothing excellence. Enjoy.
