Bob the Blob (iPhone App Review)
Recently released game “Bob the Blob” caught my eye not too long ago. From indie studio ZenDevelopment, I thought I’d give it a go. All I can say is: do not be put off by the relatively unknown name, because I doubt it’ll be unknown for long.
You play as Bob, the Blob, and your mission is to build platforms to try and get as high as possible. Although you may think this is similar to well known titles such as PapiJump or DoodleJump, it’s got a very unique twist. Like I said, you get to build the bridges.
This makes the game much more engaging than the likes of DoodleJump, where timing is much more important, and the ability to move your character is controlled solely by these bridges.
The graphics are cute and appealing, the animations smooth, so your eyes won’t got bored…
Further features include highscores – which is a must have for games such as these. I just love the constant battle to try and get on top of the leaderboards, and above everybody else. Another must-have feature included in this little game are the powerups, or powerdowns and enemies, making the game either more easy, or more challenging depending on the things you pick up.
I’m surprised this interesting and unique little platformer is storming the charts, considering how addictive and cheap it is! For only $.99 or 69 pennies, you can pick this game up and still have money left over for Starbucks. But be warned, you risk missing sunlight for days.
I’d probably give this game 4/5. The game has very little flaws, and what bugs there were have already been ironed out. However, considering it’s a game that lacks overall content, that’s where the final point is dropped. Other than that, I highly recommend you pick up Bob the Blob and give it a go!
