Apple’s Jonathan Ive receives knighthood in New Year Honours List
It was announced today that the senior vice-president of Industrial Design Jony Ive has received a knighthood for his work on the iPod and the iPhone at Apple.
Ive got his KBE (Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire) from the Queen for services to design and enterprise.
Born in Chingford, North London, Ive began working for Apple in 1992. He holds an honorary Bachelor of Arts and Doctorate degrees from Newcastle Polytechnic.
In 2003, he was named the ‘Designer of the Year’ by the Design Museum London and awarded the title Royal Designer of Industry by the Royal Society of Arts.

I am keenly aware that I benefit from a wonderful tradition in the UK of designing and making, To be recognized with this honour is absolutely thrilling and I am both humbled and sincerely grateful.
