Apple suddenly drops TV rentals on iTunes
According the latest sources Apple has pulled the plug on TV rentals on via iTunes. It now appears that iTunes customer’s only option is to actually buy a TV episode.
This comes ahead of circulating rumours of an Apple HDTV in the works and a quick check on the newly appointed CEO Tim Cook’s profile on Wall Street Journal indicates that the company is “working on a new technology to deliver video to televisions, and discussing whether to try to launch a subscription TV service.
Apple’s spokesman Tom Neumayr had this to say:
iTunes customers have shown they overwhelmingly prefer buying TV shows.
