Mobile OS showdown
As you might or might not already know, there are in fact four major mobile OSs worth considering at the moment (until symbian 3 gets here, I’m really sorry we could not add it to the table but we do not know enough about it yet and to be honest not a whole that much has changed. Also Maemo is a contender but due to its single availability on the N900 we cannot compare it with Mobile OSs that are on tens of different devices). These are Apple’s iPhone OS, Google’s Android, Microsoft’s WinMo 6.5 , and Palm’s Web OS. As I know many of you have been thinking what is the best mobile OS to have at the moment. But wait because we have two up and coming OSs iPhone OS4 and WinMo 7 which will also be compared and of course there are still two major contenders which have already reached their maturity Symbian and Blackberry. If you’re wondering how this table works the, points system is 0-5, if it is a yes no question 5= yes 0=no.
From our charts you can deduct an order of OS:
- Android
- iPhone OS 4
- Web OS
- WinMo7
- iPhone OS 3.1 (current)
- WinMo 6.5
- Symbian
- Blackberry
But then of course some features have more weight than others to some people. For example, I don’t care about business so much, so I could wipe that out of the equation, but for some people this is their top priority for whom I would say that Blackberry in WinMo is best at.

customization, layout and ui of blackberry seems underrated to me, the ability to customize and adapt it makes it quick an easy to switch through the essential services the phone provies. on the side of customization, anything from backgrounds, user display pictures, user profiles allowing you to set unique tones for phone calls, sms mms bbm for each user, and with a nifty app called berrybuzz you can even customize the LED colour for each communication and for unique individuals, again you can create folders for managing your applications and icons.
hope that helps =)
Thanks for the reply, and I couldn't agree less, it does have a deep level of customization and an interesting UI - however, in our showdown we are comparing it with others, and we felt that some other phones easily took the lead. But nevertheless, you're right :)
Hey guys sorry about the confusion caused by the weird spec but infact WinMo7 does have less of a multitasking ability than WinMo6.5 due to a slightly fixed multitasking system kind of like in iPhone OS 3.1 but all native applications can multitask but third party ones cannot.

im a bb fan so you can count that as bias judgement =)
