Apple to Axe the iPod classic at the fall event.
We knew that the iPod classic would inevtiably be killed when the sales figures start drying up, after all iPod sales are slowly but surely declining due to the iPhone’s effect – with the only iPod keeping up with Apple’s growth being the teen’s favourite – the iPod touch or the pre-iPhone device according to Steve Jobs.
With Apple’s iPhone event next week will we find out more about their strategy, all we know is the they will definitely announce a new iPhone. But iPod click wheel games have been deleted from the iTunes Store signalling the end to this tiring device. Especially with unlimited storage which is Apple’s iCloud interface. So now that you can save songs on the cloud, where is the need for a device that can do nothing but store 40,000 songs?

the next generation of mp3 players will be stored on the cloud with your needed music stored locally thats a better option personally i think
Yes, but what I am saying is that doesn't make hard drive ones obsolete. Cloud storage has extremely huge drawbacks, and in it's current form is highly overhyped.
but all the ahardrive companies are concentrating on their SSD business now anyway, they haven't released new hard drives in forever
But isn't that what MP3 players are for? Storing and playing songs? Their main purpose isn't to run apps and such - it's for playing music. If you buy it for the other stuff, that's really a waste of money.
