Tips to Increase Battery Life in Android Phones
If you own an Android phone, you probably know how many advantages this platform has and how cool it is. Android is highly customizable and has lots of apps for all occasions – I guess this is what makes it the most popular platform in the world. Perhaps the only shortcoming of Android phones is the short battery life they usually have. If you listen to music, use Bluetooth, talk on the phone and play some games, the battery will be drained in several hours, and that’s a big problem for most Android users.
However, there are some easy tips to prolong the battery life of Android phones significantly, and here they are:
Tip 1 – Don’t overcharge
We usually put our phones on charge overnight. This is not a good idea, since your phone’s battery can be overcharged, and it will have a negative impact on the battery life up to its going out of use. The handset needs about three hours to fully charge, so whenever you can, make sure you do not overcharge it.
Tip 2 – Don’t charge too frequently
As a habit, we want to charge our phones whenever we remember, just in case we forget to do it later. But these frequent charges also harm the battery, so it is much better to wait until the phone says it needs charging – it’s a smart phone, after all, and it knows better.
Tip 3 – Use original batteries
Use original batteries made by the manufacturer who has created your phone. For example, if you have a Samsung phone and if you want to change its battery, don’t buy any third-party batteries, buy one made by Samsung.
Tip 4 – Reduce the brightness
Reduce the brightness of your phone’s screen or set it to the automatic – this will help save a considerable amount of battery life, since a bright screen is the first and the most terrible battery killer.
Tip 5 – Kill the unnecessary processes
Switch off all the unnecessary background operations and processes (like YouTube listening, for example) using apps like Task Manager (if you don’t have a built-in app like that, you can download it from Android Market).
Tip 6 – Keep Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS off
Switch off the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS of your phone if you don’t need them at the moment, since they drain the battery sooner than you could have expected. Furthermore if you have high quality games in the background, be sure to kill them, if you lock your phone be sure to exit the game first, I’ve had some nasty surprises with Minecraft before.
While these tips will not miraculously make the battery of your Android phone last for many days, they will surely increase the batter life of your handset by 20-30 percent.
